The International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and its
Senior Scholars will make their fourth annual "IS Best Publications of
the Year" awards to five journal articles.

Nomination of an article for the award can be made by the Editor of any
journal. Only one article published in 2009 can be nominated from any
journal. Digital copies of the article and letter of nomination from the
Editor will be submitted to the IS Best Publications of 2009 Award
Committee. The selection of the five best papers will be based on the
vote of Senior Scholars. Nominations will be open from May through June
for articles published in the previous year.

Upon closure of the nominations, Senior Scholars (excluding those who as
Editors have submitted nominations or who have authored papers that have
been nominated) will be asked to select the five award winning articles.
Each scholar's vote will consist of selecting the top five articles and
rank ordering them. The months of August and September will be
designated for the reviewing, commenting, and individual voting to take
place. The five winners will be selected by simply summing the
individual scores of the articles being considered for the award. The
winners will not themselves be rank ordered in their announcement at
ICIS.

The award will reflect the article's importance as a contribution to the
IS field and will be based on the article's importance as a contribution
to practice in the IS field, its importance as a contribution to theory
in the IS field, the uniqueness/originality of the ideas, and the
quality of the arguments. The winners will not themselves be rank
ordered in their announcement at ICIS.
