Chalmers University of Technology seeks applicants for a professorship in Applied Information Technology with experience of projects in collaboration with industry. The position will be placed at the Department of Applied Information Technology, which is part of both Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg.
Profile
The profile and focus of the position is on the development, implementation, and use of information technology in product and process innovation. This includes digital innovation, information management, and IT adoption in organizations. The research conducted at the department should be design-oriented and conducted in collaboration with industry.
The department is part of the interdisciplinary research program Sustainable Transport Initiative, which is a joint effort between Chalmers and University of Gothenburg. A key task for the professor is to take an active role in strengthening the department’s research and related education in this field. Applicants should therefore describe how their competencies and experiences can relate to this task.
Job description
The post as full professor is a full time tenure appointment. The holder of the post will play a leading role, in research and in education at the research level, in the field of the post. The appointment also includes teaching at all levels, from undergraduate to graduate, own research, and the supervision of PhD students, as well as administration and management both of research and in other areas.
Required qualifications
To be qualified for the position as professor requires a PhD in a relevant discipline and an international track record of academic IT research. This should be demonstrated by a list of publications, documented scientific, pedagogical and research leadership skills. We seek applicants who are capable of defining and executing research programs that address research problems formulated in line with state-of-the-art applied IT research.
Collaborative research with industry is important. Documented ability to attract external funding is important. The applicant’s research and that of the PhD students are to some extent to be financed through external grants.
The applicant's ability to collaborate with society at large and to inform about research will also be considered. Chalmers University of Technology works actively to promote diversity and gender equality.
English is our working language for research. Both Swedish and English are used in undergraduate courses, while graduate courses are taught in English. The applicant is recommended to learn Swedish within a few years.
