Quarterly Executive (MISQE)
December 11th 2010, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

You are invited to submit a paper for presentation at the pre-ICIS 2010
SIM Academic Workshop to be held from 10am-5pm on Saturday, December
11th, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch, St. Louis, MO. This
year's workshop will include invited and competitive paper presentations
that focus on the theme: New IS Leadership Roles for a Digital World.

In today's world we see information technologies increasingly embedded
in organizations' products, processes and decisions. Trends in the use
of the Internet for multimedia, scalable platforms, analytical software,
wireless technologies and internetworking are changing the way business
is conducted. Collectively, these trends indicate that there is
greater potential to leverage advantages of digitalization. But what
does this mean for IT management roles in the company? What does this
mean for C-level roles? What does it mean for middle management roles?
Are there newer types of management roles emerging? Are there new ways
to manage IT and business relationships to create new digital value? How
can companies effectively and efficiently leverage these resources?

For this pre-ICIS workshop we are seeking "research for practice" papers
that address the changing role of management in today's increasingly
digital world. We are defining management broadly - to include not only
C-level roles but the spectrum of roles involving the management of the
IT resource and its relationship with business. We are particularly
interested in field research that reveals the challenges faced by
managers due to increasing IT embeddedness, and ways of dealing with
these challenges. These ways could be new or learned from emerging
technology management and e-business innovations of the recent past.
Submissions viewed most favorably will be those that provide interesting
frameworks, rich illustrations and practices that can be applied by
other companies.

Themes to be addressed include but are not restricted to:
* Changing roles of C-level and mid-level IS managers
* Changing roles of C-level and mid-level business managers due to IT
embeddedness
* Challenges faced by IS managers due to new digital initiatives
* New ways of fostering IS-business relationships
* CEO management of IS resources in a digital world
* Managing internal and external IT innovation
* Conceiving, managing and evaluating the IT value proposition
* Transformational IS management
* Profiles of successful C-level IS managers
