The University of North Florida, one of eleven public universities in the State of Florida, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the School of Computing. The School of Computing resides within College of Computing, Engineering and Construction, offering a bachelor's degree in Computing and Information Sciences with specializations in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Science, and Information Technology and a master's degree in Computing and Information Sciences with specializations in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Software Engineering.  The undergraduate computer science, information systems, information science, and information technology programs are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET Inc.

UNF consists of five colleges and has over 16,000 students.  The university is located seven miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean and twelve miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville and is a comprehensive urban university in the midst of a nature preserve of more than 1,300 acres. The qualified candidate will provide evidence of the following in his/her application:
*             Administrative and managerial experience working effectively on behalf of and in collaboration with a diverse faculty, other administrators, and staff within the university;
*             A strong record of scholarship and commitment to excellence in teaching, sponsored research, and service;
*             A record of leadership, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication;
*             An appreciation of the interrelationships among the programs offered by the School of Computing and a commitment to their mutual advancement;
*             A record of cooperation with entities outside computing that will allow the successful candidate to foster collaboration with other UNF units and external organizations;
*             A commitment to strategic planning which promotes a vision of cohesion, program assessment, and accreditation efforts in line with the university strategic plan.

Candidates for this position must have attained the rank of Full Professor, have an earned doctorate in computing, and must be eligible for tenure within the School of Computing.  Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in developing and growing academic programs as well as having a national presence in his/her discipline.  Duties will include budget management and oversight, strategic planning, conducting personnel evaluations, community outreach and service, and overseeing accreditation and program assessment activities.  The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction.
