 Dear colleague,

I would like to invite you to apply for a yearly membership in the
AISSpecial Interest Group on ICTin Global Development (
*SIG GlobDev*) (http://www.globdev.org/).

SIG GlobDev’s mission is to “contribute to progress in the developing world
through the appropriate use and diffusion of ICT and associated management
practices.” On the research front, SIG GlobDev will host its 3rd Annual
SIG GlobDev Workshop in Saint Louis on December 12 (
http://www.globdev.org/?q=node/85). Other SIG GlobDev research initiatives
include sponsoring mini-tracks at the Americas Conference on Information
Systems (AMCIS) and partnerships with journals such as Information
Technology for Development (ITD), the Electronic Journal of Information
Systems in Developing Countries (EJISDC) and the African Journal of
Information Systems (AJIS). On the education front, SIG GlobDev is committed
to leveraging its members’ skill and interests in order to advance IS
education in selected regions of the world. Educational activities include
building a repository of model curricula for Information and Communication
Technologies for Development (ICT4D) (http://www.globdev.org/?q=node/93),
participating in the “Global Text” project (www.globaltext.org), and
establishing ICT educational programs.

I hope you will decide to apply for a yearly membership in SIG GlobDev and
participate in SIG GlobDev research and educational activities.
The SIGGlobDev yearly membership is $20 for regular members and $0 for all
Ph.D. students (from any country) and persons who permanently reside in
countries not on the "high income" list of the World Bank (see the
Membership FAQ option on the Membership menu bar on the AIS webpage,
http://home.aisnet.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=418 for
details). According to AIS rules, you need to be a valid AIS member in order
to become a SIG member; your SIG membership is valid for one year from the
application date, or until your AIS membership expires, whichever comes
first.

The SIG GlobDev application process can be either completed online or by
mail, as described below. If you encounter problems or have questions about
this process, please contact the AIS Membership Manager via email at
membership at aisnet.org or phone at +1-404-413-7442.

** ONLINE APPLICATION **

1. Log into your AIS profile (on the AIS main page or at
https://m360.aisnet.org/), check your AIS membership and renew it if needed.
Then click on the “Join a SIG” link, or just follow the “Join a SIG” link on
the AIS webpage menu bar (
https://m360.aisnet.org/admin/forms/ViewForm.aspx?id=12423).

2. Select the appropriate SIGGlobDev annual membership (HOLD the CONTROL KEY
when making or changing your selection(s) in order to keep your previous
SIG memberships active) as follows:

2a. If you are a PhD student or an AIS member from a non-rich country,
select the first option called “SIGGlobDev (Faculty from non-reach countries
and all PhD students), submit the selection, and check for a confirmation
screen

2b. Otherwise select the second option called “SIGGlobDev (ICT for Global
Development)”, submit it, and complete the $20 payment process

3. After completing the SIG joining process, check your AIS membership
profile once again to ensure the appropriate SIG was added to your profile.

**PAPER-BASED APPLICATION **

1. Download, fill out and mail the paper application, currently available at
http://ais.affiniscape.com/associations/7499/files/SIG%20Membership%20Application.doc.

If the ICIS conference is in your plans this year, please consider
registering for and attending the pre-ICIS SIG GlobDev workshop as well (see
the workshop announcement sent earlier to the AIS mailing list, included
below).

Last, but not least, if you have any questions about SIG GlobDev, please do
not hesitate to contact Alina Chircu (AIS SIG GlobDev Membership Vice-Chair,
