The Information Technology (IT) Area at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for one or more full-time tenure track positions beginning August 2011. The position(s) is/are open to all ranks. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and an established record of strong research, teaching, and service commensurate with rank. The strongest candidates will have expertise in contemporary research practices and topics, published articles in A-level journals, demonstrated excellence in teaching IT-related topics at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, possess practical business experience, and the potential to make significant internal service contributions. Particular consideration will be given to scholars whose research has potential synergies with current McIntire faculty.
Currently, the McIntire School of Commerce (http://www.commerce.virginia.edu) awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology, a Master of Science in Accounting, and Master of Science in Commerce.  McIntire is recognized for excellence and innovation in undergraduate and graduate business education and scholarship. In fact, the McIntire School is the only business school to be ranked either first or second in every annual ranking of undergraduate business programs by Business Week magazine.
McIntire serves over 650 undergraduates and 300 graduate students. Undergraduate students enter the McIntire School in their third year at the University and concentrate in at least one of six fields: accounting, finance, information technology, international business, management and/or marketing. The major professional services firms (e.g., accounting, consulting, IT services, and investment banks) and Fortune 500 corporations actively recruit McIntire graduates. McIntire is located in a new 156,000 square foot academic complex on the Lawn in the heart of UVA's historic Central Grounds, designed by Thomas Jefferson.  Charlottesville is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is consistently rated highly as a desirable location to live.
McIntire faculty members have received numerous regional and national awards for their research. They also serve as members of editorial review boards and as editors of leading journals in their fields. IT Area scholars include:  Glenn Browne, Peter Gray, Stefano Grazioli, Gigi Kelly, Mike Morris, Ryan Nelson, and Barb Wixom.
