New version of CPN Tools and transfer from Aarhus to Eindhoven [cpntools.org]

CPN Tools is by far the most widely used Petri-net tool having more than 10,000 licenses in 150 countries. The CPN group at Aarhus University in Denmark has developed and supported CPN Tools over the last 10 years. The main architects behind the tool are Kurt Jensen, Søren Christensen, Lars M. Kristensen, and Michael Westergaard. Recently, CPN Tools was transferred to our group (AIS group, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, http://www.win.tue.nl/ais/).

CPN Tools is a versatile software package for modeling and analysis using Colored Petri Nets, i.e., Petri nets extended with data, time, and hierarchy. It supports state-space analysis, model checking, simulation, and animation. The tool features incremental syntax checking and code generation, which take place while a net is being constructed. A fast simulator efficiently handles untimed and timed nets. Full and partial state spaces can be generated and analyzed, and a standard state space report contains information, such as boundedness properties and liveness properties.

As a first tangible result of the transfer from Aarhus to the AIS group in Eindhoven, there is now new version of the tool: CPN Tools 3.0.

CPN Tools 3.0 features these great new features:
  - Improved support for modern computing environments (64 bit Windows and improved support for running under virtualization software like VMWare and Parallels)
  - New simulator which is up to twice as fast for both simulation and state-space analysis
  - Support for transition priorities
  - Support for using real values as time stamps
  - Bug fixes

CPN Tools 3.0 is available from a completely redesigned web-page at the new URL:

which also features video tutorials to get you started using CPN Tools immediately.

You can directly download CPN Tool 3.0 from: http://cpntools.org/download

We hope you will enjoy using this new version!
