Call for Research Paper Development Workshop

“Cross-Disciplinary Research on Accounting, Information Systems,
Enterprise Systems, and Logistics”

Jointly Organized by the
International Journal of Accounting Information Systems (IJAIS) and
International Conference on Enterprise Systems, Accounting, and
Logistics (ICESAL)

July 10, 2011, Thassos Island, Greece

The International Journal of Accounting Information Systems (IJAIS)
and International Conference on Enterprise Systems, Accounting and
Logistics (ICESAL) are jointly organizing a research mentoring
workshop under the theme of “Cross-Disciplinary Research in
Accounting, Information Systems, Enterprise Systems, Supply Chain and
Logistics.”

The workshop is designed to attract early-career and emerging scholars
and researchers who are interested in gaining insights into high
caliber research and publishing and whose research interests focus on
any of the above mentioned areas or their interfaces. Workshop
organizers are especially interested to develop cross-disciplinary
research that will cross boundaries among the areas of accounting and
information or enterprise systems, or of accounting and technology use
in logistics/supply chain contexts. A major opportunity for
participants is to gain exposure into state-of-the-art research and
scholarly craft from the pros in the field, showcase your research
papers and ideas, and network with other researchers in your area of
scholarship.

The workshop will be mentored by a distinguished panel of editors and
academic researchers from the AIS community including:

Dr. Vicky Arnold, Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting, University of
Central Florida; Editor, Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research

Dr. Andreas Nicolaou, Owens-Illinois Professor of Accounting
Information Systems, Bowling Green State University; Editor,
International Journal of Accounting Information Systems (IJAIS)

Dr. Constantinos Stefanou, Professor, Alexander TEI of Thessaloniki

Dr. Steve Sutton, KPMG Professor of Accounting, University of Central Florida

Dr. Miklos Vasarhelyi, KPMG Professor of Accounting Information
Systems, Rutgers University; Editor, Journal of Information Systems
(JIS)

Interested researchers and/or young scholars should submit
work-in-progress papers with a 5000 word maximum. Research papers
should include, at a minimum, a statement of purpose, motivation,
review of past literature in the area of study, contributions of the
proposed research, and proposed methodology. If a full-fledged
work-in-progress paper is not available, we encourage emerging
scholars to submit a two-page description of their research ideas,
including summary of past research, objectives, and contributions.

Outline of the workshop program:

The workshop program will last one day and will be divided into two
parts: A general research skills development part and a paper
roundtable discussion part, as follows:

General Research Skills Development (morning): The mentors will offer
insights and tips on improving participant opportunities for access to
high impact and high caliber publishing outlets, especially focusing
on publishing high quality research in IJAIS as well as JIS.

Roundtable Discussion (afternoon): The mentors will critique developed
or work-in-progress papers of researchers through a roundtable
discussion format. Admission to this section of the program requires
advance submission and acceptance of complete or work-in-progress
papers.

The workshop will take place immediately preceding the International
Conference on Enterprise Systems, Accounting, and Logistics (ICESAL).
Participation at the general research skills development workshop
(morning) is open to all interested researchers and register
participants of ICESAL. Admission to the Roundtable Discussion
(afternoon) section requires participation in the general research
skills development workshop and submission and acceptance of complete
or work-in-progress paper.
