Track: Health Care IT
Minitrack: Healthcare Business Intelligence

DESCRIPTION:
U.S. healthcare organizations are in the midst of dramatic change as they attempt to respond to marketplace and regulatory forces requiring changes in their performance. Healthcare organizations must consider integrated strategy execution approaches that emphasize data-based organizational assessment practices. Many of these data-based assessment practices will rely on the use of business intelligence suites to provide insights into current operations and future plans. This mini-track encourages the submission of papers that investigate the special role filled by the use of business intelligence tools for executive decision-making in healthcare organizations. We invite academics and practitioners within healthcare IS research areas to consider submitting research-in-progress papers, research papers, tutorials, and panel discussions.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

· Data and information quality issues for healthcare organizations
· Metadata challenges
· Integrating external benchmark data with internal operations data for comparisons and analysis
· Metrics used for performance measurements
· Data warehouse, data mart, and enterprise data development challenges
· Dashboard development issues
· Techniques for visualization, data summarization
