Call For Minitrack Proposals
Forty-fifth Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-45)
January 4 - 7, 2012 (Wednesday-Saturday)
Grand Wailea (Maui)

The HICSS series of conferences has become a unique and respected 
forum in computer and information systems and technology for the 
exchange of ideas among the researchers and development communities 
around the world.

A MINITRACK is either a half-day (2 sessions) or a full day (4 
sessions).  Normally, each session consists of summary presentations 
and discussion of 3 refereed papers. All sessions are conducted in a 
workshop-like setting.

You are invited to submit a proposal to lead a minitrack in one of 
the ten tracks at HICSS-45 listed below.

Minitrack Chair Responsibilities

1. Solicit manuscripts for the minitrack using the HICSS publicity plan.
2. Acquire referees who will critically review manuscripts submitted.
3. Oversee review process to ensure impartial reviews.
4. Accept manuscripts for the minitrack based on reviews.
5. Write the Introduction to Your Minitrack to be included in proceedings.
6. Select best paper nomination from accepted papers.
7. Attend the conference and lead sessions of papers during your 
minitrack.  On the first day of the
     conference (the SWT day), attend the pre-conference meeting with 
your Track Chair and with the authors
     in your minitrack
9. Arrange republication of enhanced manuscripts.

Submission Instructions
1.  See website http://www.hicss.hawaii.edu for the full 
responsibilities of minitrack chairs.   You must be fully aware and 
accept all responsibilities of this position.
2.  You must submit a formal proposal to be considered.  No 
acceptance of minitracks will be made without a formal written 
proposal.
3.  Minitrack proposals should be e-mailed to the BOTH the 
appropriate Track Chair (see list below) and to hicss at hawaii.edu 
(Sandra Laney) as soon as possible, but no later than January 24, 
2011.

4.  Limit Co-Chairs to a maximum of 3 per minitrack.  Designate who 
is the PRIMARY contact person.
5.  Each proposal will be evaluated by the track chair whose decision 
will be based on the overall merit of the proposal.  Decisions will 
be made by 18 February 2011.


Proposal Contents
Your proposal must include the following:

1) The title of the proposed minitrack, along with:

a) A short paragraph (MAXIMUM of 150 words) describing the topics of 
your minitrack. If your proposal is accepted, this will be included 
on the HICSS-45 website and a shorter version will be included in the 
Advance Program Announcement distributed by 01 June 2011.
    
b) Names and full mailing address, direct phone number, departmental 
phone number and fax, email addresses for all minitrack chairs. 
(Note: please indicate who is the primary contact.)

c) If this is your first time proposing to HICSS, please include a 
short bio-sketch of less than 50 words.

2) Define the proposed technical area, and discuss the topics the 
session will address and how they fit into a particular area of 
research.  Include the title of the proposed minitrack. Include a 
proposed marketing plan, because adequate and timely publicity is a 
crucial element for a successful mintrack.

3) Discuss how these topics have recently been covered in other 
conferences and publications to substantiate that HICSS is an 
appropriate and timely forum for the topics.

4) An explicit statement that your organization endorses your 
involvement and that it will pay for your travel and registration 
cost to attend HICSS. It is expected that at least one minitrack 
chair will attend the conference.   HICSS does not offer financial 
support to Minitrack Chairs, authors, or general participants.
