2nd CALL FOR PAPERS
17th Americas Conference on Information Systems
August 4-7, 2011, Detroit, MI, USA
Track: Information Technology Services & Sourcing
Minitrack: IT-Shared Services
DESCRIPTION
Shared services are seen as a mechanism to deliver high quality IT services
in an effective and efficient way and are predicated on the use of advanced
information and communication technology. Increasingly organizations around
the world are turning to shared services as a best practice means of
improving IT-service delivery. The translation of the shared services
concept into organizational practice is, however, a complex,
context-dependent endeavor often requiring significant transformations of
policies, processes, skills, and institutional arrangements.
This minitrack seeks to enhance the understanding of IT-shared services in
private and public-sector organizations and how they are managed. We welcome
contributions examining the dynamics behind the adoption of shared services
and their institutionalization. We seek for theoretical contributions as
well as empirical findings with regard to the day-to-day business of shared
services centers, how they are controlled and governed at operational,
tactical, and strategic levels.
