Call for Tutorials
The Third International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo'11)
6 - 8 October, 2011, Singapore
Website: http://www.sis.smu.edu.sg/SocInfo2011/cft.html

The International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo) is an interdisciplinary venue for researchers from informatics and the social and management sciences to come together to share ideas and opinions, and present original research work. The goal is to create an opportunity for the dissemination of knowledge between the two communities, as well as to enable mutual critical discussion of current research.

We seek proposals of tutorials held during the conference’s main program in form of a half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours) lecture series for interested conference participants covering a specific topic. The tutorial program provides an opportunity for conference participants to gain new knowledge, skills and insights in a broad range of cutting-edge topics within the scope of the conference. Please see the main call for papers for examples. Multidisciplinary perspectives are encouraged, as are those focusing on technical or social science areas.

Each tutorial proposal should include the following information:
* Tutorial title
* Tutorial abstract: 1-2 paragraphs describing the goals and contents of the tutorial. This will be included as part of the conference publicity materials.
* Length: Half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours).
* Goals and objectives of the tutorial
* Outline of tutorial: Covers major sections of the tutorial with brief descriptions
* Intended audience and assumed background knowledge
* Equipment needed (if any), for example computers for participants, software, etc.
* Presenter(s) short biography demonstrating that she/he is an expert on the subject of the tutorial: This will be included in the conference publicity materials
* Presenter(s) contact information: name, affiliation, email, mailing address, phone, fax.
* Relevant references supporting the tutorial proposal
* Indication if the proposed tutorial has been previously conducted

Proposals will be selected based on the topic relevance, technical expertise of the presenter(s), and anticipated level of interest.

Tutorial proposals need not follow the Springer format of the conference. Instead, a simple one-column style will suffice. Proposals should be no more than five pages in length.

Submit tutorial proposals to the both tutorial co-chairs by April 30, 2011:
Do Quoc Anh: quocanhdo at smu.edu.sg<mailto:quocanhdo at smu.edu.sg>
Dion Goh: ashlgoh at ntu.edu.sg<mailto:ashlgoh at ntu.edu.sg>

Queries may also be directed to the co-chairs using the email addresses above.

Upon Acceptance
Tutorial presenters will be required to provide comprehensive tutorial notes by September 15, 2011. Notes can be in the form of printable slides, additional documents, etc. These will be made available to tutorial attendees.

Each accepted tutorial will receive a conference registration waiver and a modest amount of honorarium depending on the tutorial duration.
