Potential applicants interested in pursuing a PhD within Business
Information Systems are welcome to contact any of the following staff
members:

Dr. Thomas Acton <Thomas.Acton at nuigalway.ie>: Decision Making and Support
Systems for managerial activities, focusing on key performance indicator
visualisation tools and techniques. The project will include an application
of decision support systems in e-commerce.

Dr. Kieran Conboy <Kieran.Conboy at nuigalway.ie>: With the increasing
pressures to be innovative in all aspects of business, some researchers have
called for the integration of Open Innovation principles in software
development environments. This project seeks to study the relationship and
tension between open innovation and measurable innovative outputs in ISD
environments. It will develop an open innovation methodology that
incorporates an empirical investigation of how software development
practices and efforts at the inter-and intra-team and firm level can be
structured to optimise innovative outcomes.

Prof. Willie Golden <Willie.Golden at nuigalway.ie
<Willie.Golden at nuigalway.ie>: Understanding the value created by Information
Systems is a difficult and contemporary challenge, with serious implications
for public policy. eGovernment is a particular example of technologies that
can deliver value to citizens in revolutionary ways. This project seeks to
develop a Public Value perspective to understanding the success of
technology in society.

Dr. Michael Lang <Michael.Lang at nuigalway.ie <Michael.Lang at nuigalway.ie>:
With the increasing pervasiveness of ICT into e-commerce, e-government,
e-health and human interactions in modern society, there are growing
concerns over security, privacy, ethics and social responsibility. The
envisaged project would be in an area related to cybercrime, privacy
regulation, sociotechnical aspects of ICT security, or socially responsible
information systems.
