[AISWorld] Announcing the 2011-2012 Salary Offer Survey (One more try)

As promised a few weeks ago, I am kicking off the 2011-2012 salary offer survey. I will not provide analysis of the 2010-2011 survey due to insufficient data. The upside is that it saved me about an hour of work.

Unfortunately, my plea for additional data points a few weeks ago resulted in a grand total of zero additional entries plus two impassioned requests to continue this survey. Therefore, we are still at two entries for the 2010-2011 academic year, and I will try this survey again for one more year and hope for the best. If the participation is low again, then maybe this survey has run its course.

But hopefully there will be an upswing. This survey is the only one that reflects current OFFERS in our field, and is therefore quite different from the SALARY survey that the AACSB and others conduct. Many current salaries reflect salary compression, which occurs when salary offers rise more quickly than annually-adjusted faculty salaries. If you have seen your PhD students receive Assistant Professor offers for more than you earn, even as an Associate Professor, you have seen salary compression in action! So current salaries are a poor reflection of the market.

Please flock to the 2011-2012 forms with your salary offers! If you are starting a new position in the next couple of months, yes, I need YOU!

I hope to receive many responses.

Note: I have found that the previous problem of long page delays with the salary survey pages was a result of some broken links from former ISWorldNet pages and style sheets. I have disabled them and will attempt to get a fix before reinstating them. The fixed pages (2009 to 2011 only) load almost instantaneously now. Sorry for the previous problems. It is ironic this occurred, given some of my research in the past on web delay.
