IPID 2011 Symposium : Call for registration 

The 2011 Annual 
Conference of the International Network for Postgraduate Students in the
 Area of ICT4D (IPID) will be held 12 - 13 September at Università della
 svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano, Switzerland.
 This symposium will grant postgraduate researchers the opportunity to 
present their work to a diverse audience, and gain positive and valuable
 experience. It is also an opportunity for young scientists to network 
and engage with international scholars in ICT4D.

It is envisaged that there will be 8-10 themed discussions on aspects of ICT4D research practice, such as :

    Being multidisciplinary
    Combining theory and practice
    Working in partnership
    Developing a research question
    Methodology in ICT4D
    Developing a theoretical framework

Keynote speakers :

-
 Tim Unwin, Professor of Geography and UNESCO Chair in ICT4D.Prof. Tim 
is also Chair of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
- Dr 
Gertrudes Macueve, Director of the master’s program in Informatics at 
Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Department of Mathematics within the 
Faculty of Sciences                                     

Host & Venue

The
 host for this year’s conference is the New Media in Education 
Laboratory (NewMinE Lab) in the Communication Faculty of Università 
della svizzera italiana  (Lugano, Switzerland).
The particular venue for the event is the Communication Sciences Auditorium (main campus)

Registration & payment

Call for registration is now open. Participants may follow this link to register and pay: https://secure.unisi.ch/ipid2011/reg.php (bursary candidates will select the “bank transfer” option, and will not pay the registration fee)

Participant fee: 

100
 Euro. This will cover registration fees and all snacks and meals at the
 conference. Accommodation should be funded individually. Please check http://www.ipid2011.com/accommodation

Important dates

    Thursday 14 July    : Registration begins 
    Sunday 31 July      : Notification of paper acceptance
    Sunday 11 September : Arrival + Introductions
    Monday 12 September : Day 1, 09h00-17h00; +Social event/dinner
    Tuesday 13 September: Day 2, 09h00-17h00; & wrap-up
