Information Technology and Management Special Issue Call For Paper
Role of IT in Korea's Economic Development
Korea, once a typical post-war underdeveloped country, has achieved
significant economic
growth, becoming one of the G20 economies. In particular, during the
past couple of
decades, the IT sector (including telecommunications, consumer
electronics, and computer
games) has occupied a great portion of Korea's economy and the use of IT
in non-IT sectors
(such as manufacturing, logistics, banking, non-profit sectors, and
retail services
including e-commerce and m-commerce) has grown substantially. In this
special issue, we
would like to see evidences that IT has played an important role in
Korea's economic
development. Both empirical and theoretical research papers
demonstrating behavior,
economical, analytical, and technical models are acceptable. The
emphasis should be on the
unique or outstanding role of IT in Korea's economy that is not easily
found in already
developed economies. Cross-culture studies comparing Korea's and other
cultures that
explain IT and Korea's economy are also acceptable. Case studies will be
accepted if they
represent typical phenomena and lessons have significant practical or
theoretical
importance.

Information Technology and Management, an SSCI-indexed journal, explores
the many different
technologies inherent in the field of information technology and their
impact on
information systems design, functionality, operations, and management.
The journal takes a
broad view of information systems as systems that not only include
machines but human
beings as well. As a result, the journal is an important outlet for
studies concerning the
man/machine interface, human factors, and organizational issues.
Moreover, the journal
explores the managerial issues and the strategic issues that arise from
the management of
information technology.
