Call for Participation
ICIS2011 Junior Faculty Consortium, Shanghai, China, 3 December 2011

Overview:

Applications are invited from untenured IS junior faculty to participate 
in the Junior Faculty Consortium (JFC) which will take place on 
Saturday, 3rd December 2011. The event will be held at the conference 
venue in Shanghai.

The Junior Faculty Consortium consists of panels, discussions and 
interactive sessions built around issues related to becoming a 
successful faculty member. Each activity will be facilitated by a select 
group of highly-successful IS faculty from universities around the 
world. This consortium will allow each participant to interact with both 
new and senior faculty and to share their experiences, thoughts, and 
concerns about developing a career in academia.

Topics that might be covered include: research strategies, publishing 
issues, building a network of colleagues, tenure pitfalls and 
experiences, collegiality, teaching and service duties, and work-life 
balance.


Keynote Speaker:
Viswanath Venkatesh, University of Arkansasand author of a new book on 
"ROAD TO SUCCESS: A Guide for Doctoral Students and Junior Faculty 
Members in the Behavioral and Social Sciences"

Detmar Straub, Georgia State University and Editor-in-Chief of MISQ

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants include all untenured AIS members within their first 
four years in an assistant professor position. If you have attended a 
previous JFC, you should not attend a second time. The number of 
participants is limited to 40 in order to maintain the richness and 
intimacy of the experience.


Registration Fee:

There is a small fee of US$55 to cover some of the costs of the facility 
rental, buffet lunch, and coffee breaks. ****The fee is paid at the time 
of registration to ICIS, after you have been shortlisted for the JFC.

Please check the ICIS website for application details. Deadline for 
application is 5 October 2011 or earlier. Applications will be processed 
as they are received.
