Call for Minitrack Proposals for the

AMCIS 2012 Strategic Use of
Information Technology (SUIT) Track


Information systems are increasingly used to generate business value and gain competitive advantage in businesses and public agencies.  This has subsequently led to more and more interest in the successful design, development, deployment, and use of these systems.  In many cases, an absence of these systems may threaten not just a company's competitiveness but also its survival.  The objective of the AMCIS 2012 Strategic Use of Information Technology (SUIT) track is to provide the conference attendees a better understanding of the management, success, and failure of Strategic and Competitive Information Systems (SCIS).  The AMCIS 2012 SUIT, therefore, wishes to solicit minitrack proposals for this track that include research studies that are related to, but not limited to the following areas:



1.     IS Strategy and Implementation
a. Strategic positioning of this type of systems
b. Challenges in implementing this type of systems
c. Making the case for this type of systems



2.     Strategic IS Successes and Failures
a. Measuring strategic impact of these systems in terms of, for example, creating business advantage
b. Analyzing SIS impact on strategic decision making



3.     Risk Management in Strategic and Competitive Information Systems (SCIS)

a.     Security management in the development and use of SCIS

b.     Privacy management in the development and use of SCIS

c.     Reliability in in the use of SCIS

d.     Economics of SCIS

e.     Economics of Privacy of SCIS

f.      Economics of Reliability of SCIS



4.     Economics and Metrics for Evaluation of Strategic and Competitive Information Systems (SCIS)

a.     Economics, ROI, and Benchmarking of SCIS

b.     Economics of privacy and reliability of SCIS

c.     Use of scoreboards for SCIS


5.     Empirical, theoretical, and case-based studies in the use of Strategic and Competitive Information Systems in some of the following areas:

a.     SCIS use in managing IT outsourcing

b.     Privacy, confidentially, and compliance with the use of SCIS

c.     Alignment of Strategic and Competitive Information Systems with the Business Plan


6.     IT Governance, Alignment, and Enterprise Architectures
a.  IT alignment with business plan towards facilitating the design and development of Strategic  and Competitive Information Systems
b. IT Governance towards facilitating the development and use of SCIS.



7.     Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Transformations for Strategic Information Systems


Please limit the number of co-chairs to no more than four persons (one or two preferred) for a given minitrack. We look forward to receiving your 1-2 page submission that indicates the importance of the research studies to be included in the proposed minitrack and potential topics to be covered by these studies.

Mini-track proposals are due by November 16, 2011, at 12 midnight EST   (http://amcis2012.aisnet.org/index.php/program/tracks-and-minitracks/71).
