The Computation and Economics Research Group at the University of
Zurich (Switzerland) is inviting applications for:

1 PhD position (full-time) in Computation and Economics.

The PhD student will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Sven Seuken. The focus
of the research activities will be on topics at the intersection of
electronic market design, mechanism design, and user interface design.
This requires an interdisciplinary research approach, using techniques
from economics and computer science, including theoretical modeling
and analysis, simulations, as well as lab and field experiments.

Prospective candidates should hold a degree in Computer Science or
another relevant field (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Business
Economics, Business Informatics, Information Systems, etc.).
Candidates that already have a Masters degree (or equivalent) are
preferred, however, outstanding applicants with a BSc degree will also
be considered. Prior knowledge in microeconomics, game theory,
mechanism design, or user interface design is helpful but not
required. We are looking for candidates that are able to work in a
team, who like challenging tasks, and who are passionate about
research. Good communication skills in English, both oral and written,
are essential. German speaking skills are helpful but not required.

The salary will be around 45,000 Euros per year. The average completion
time for a PhD is 4-5 years. The starting date is negotiable, but no
earlier than November 1st, 2011.

The Computation and Economics Research Group is at the Department of
Informatics which is part of the Faculty of Economics, Business
Administration and Information Technology. Thus, the PhD student will
be in a unique position to conduct interdisciplinary research, with
access to top researchers and professors not only in Computer Science,
but also in Business Administration and Economics. The University of
Zurich is one of Switzerland's leading universities in the middle of a
