Hello

This is a first call for papers for the 7th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ECIE-2012) being held at Escola Superior de Gest?o e Tecnologia, Instituto Polit?cnico de Santar?m, Portugal on the 20-21 September 2012.

This call is open until 2nd of March 2012. Further details can be found at: http://academic-conferences.org/ecie/ecie2012/ecie12-call-papers.htm

Innovation and entrepreneurship are tightly coupled concepts. Innovation involves designing new ways of conceptualising, developing and producing a range of goods and services which society requires. Although inventing new things may be seen as part of innovation, innovation does not exclusively rely on new discoveries. Rather it can stem from simply seeing new ways of satisfying demand. Thus innovation is not a synonym for invention and almost anyone can come up with new innovations.

Entrepreneurship adds a further dimension to how new ideas are converted into goods and services. Entrepreneurship is sometimes said to be a mindset required to convert innovation into a real business situation which will deliver benefits to the stakeholders. Entrepreneurship is always driven by an individual or a small group of individuals who are referred to as entrepreneurs and who are sometimes colloquially referred to as the 'movers and shakers' in our society. Thus the entrepreneur configures the various factors of products to that they become a viable proposition.

Publication opportunity:

Papers accepted for the conference will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration and payment. Selected papers will also be considered for a special issue of the International Journal of Innovation and Regional Development, journals published by Inderscience.

The advisory group for the conference invites submissions of both academic and practitioner papers on a wide range of topics and a wide range of scholarly approaches including theoretical and empirical papers employing qualitative, quantitative and critical methods. Academic research, case studies and work-in-progress/posters are welcomed approaches. PhD Research, proposals for roundtable discussions non-academic contributions and product demonstrations based on the main themes are also invited.

Hello

This is a first call for papers for the 13th European Conference on Knowledge Management (ECKM-2012) being held at Universidad Polit?cnica de Cartagena, Spain

On the 6-7 September 2012.

This call is open until 16 February 2012. Further details can be found at: http://academic-conferences.org/eckm/eckm2012/eckm12-call-papers.htm

The world economy in which we are living poses challenges that lead to a realization that 'more of the same' will be difficult to sustain. This provides an illustration that, in order to create new or modified knowledge practices, strengthen customer relationships and thus positively influence customer satisfaction, organizations must be flexible in configuring (combining) knowledge and knowledge structures in a way that is appropriate for delivering value to the customer. It must simultaneously develop effective strategies for updating the knowledge of its staff members necessary for underpinning the creation and delivery of appropriate knowledge services. Thus, unlearning (forgetting) becomes a critical means for organizational success. The ECKM community of scholars has already initiated dialogue that links its particular strengths to innovation issues. This conference aims to further that dialogue by attracting leading edge work that leverages the ECKM community's in-dep!

th understanding of learning and unlearning to better understand knowledge management. Our aim is to stimulate breakthrough research streams linking learning, unlearning and knowledge management

Publication opportunity:

Papers accepted for the conference will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration and payment.

Selected papers presented at the Conference will also be considered for publication in a special issue of the Electronic Journal of Knowledge Management <http://www.ejkm.com/main.html> .

The conference committee is attracted by both theoretical and practical papers on many subjects, as well as by innovative ideas and experiences. We are also interested in case studies that demonstrate how research strategies have been applied and the lessons learned. We welcome contributions on many topics, presenting a range of scholarly approaches, theoretical and empirical papers employing qualitative, quantitative and critical methods are eagerly awaited. Action research, case studies and work-in-progress/posters are welcomed approaches. PhD Research, proposals for roundtable discussions, non-academic contributions and product demonstrations based on the main themes are also invited.

Analogous to a desktop operating system, an Internet Operating System
(IOS) brings together computational technologies that allow users to
manage Internet resources (including documents, devices and
applications). Unlike a desktop operating system, however, an Internet
Operating System involves millions of people and it requires
technologies that can stimulate the generation of content from a wide
spectrum of human activities including personal, professional, cultural,
social, and many others.

Interdisciplinary (Intra-disciplinary within Computer Science) in
nature, the ultimate success of IOS requires new, synergized
technologies be developed from various disciplines such as Computer
Science, Social Sciences, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Medicine, Law,
Business and Humanities. Topics of interest include, but are not limited
to, the following:

* Modeling and Realization of Human Activities with the Internet
* Search Engine and Question Answering

CALL FOR PAPERS

18th Americas Conference on Information Systems
Seattle, Washington, August 9-12, 2012

Track: Social Issues and Social Inclusion
Minitrack: The Dark Side of Social Networking -- Social and Ethical Issues

DESCRIPTION

Online social networks are web-based services, platforms, or sites
that *?*allow
individuals to (1) construct a public or semi-public profile within a
bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users within whom they share
a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those
made by others within their system*? *(Boyd and Ellison, 2008). By
facilitating the establishment and maintenance of social relations as well
as the sharing of interests and activities within individual networks,
social networking sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace,
YouTube, and more recently Google+) have become increasingly integrated in
our modern culture, changing the way we work, study, play and socialize,
and how we spend time and money.

Notwithstanding the many personal, educational, and work benefits offered
by online social networks, their use raises a variety of social and ethical
concerns (e.g., privacy and security threats, cyber-bullying, addiction,
deception, censorship and surveillance). The objective of this mini-track
is to develop theoretical insight and understanding on topics and issues
that address the *troubling* or *dark* side of online social networks. We
welcome conceptual, theoretical, and empirical papers that enrich our
understanding of the social and ethical issues of online social networks.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

-- Privacy risks

-- Security vulnerabilities

-- Cyber-bullying and cyber-stalking

-- Social network addiction

-- Risk to child safety

-- Risk to reputation and confidentiality

-- Violations of intellectual property right

-- Ethical issues in social network analysis and mining

-- Risk of identity theft

-- Deception on social networks

-- Reduction in productivity and disruption to working environment

-- Negative impact of social networking on relationships (e.g., social
isolation and distraction from quality relationships)

-- Negative health consequences (e.g., personality and brain disorder)
associated with the use of social networking sites

-- Social network surveillance

-- Social network censorship
