Call for Papers
18th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS)
August 9-12, 2012, Seattle, WA, USA

Track: "IS in Healthcare"

Mini-Track: “Successful and Sustainable eHealth and mHealth Solutions”

In the wake of the 21st century healthcares systems around the globe are faced with the aggravating challenge of providing quality healthcare to an aging populace, exponential rise in healthcare costs (approximately 17% of GDP in US), and, limited financial as well as human resources. eHealth succinctly stated refers to the application of ICTS (information communication technologies) to effect superior healthcare delivery while mHealth, refers to the integration of mobile information communication and multimedia technologies towards enabling superior healthcare delivery and practice. Although the potential of the far reaching impact by eHealth/mHealth is indisputable, the challenge lies in realizing the vision. The objective of this mini-track is to address these challenges by soliciting work-in-progress and completed research papers covering technical, organizational, behavioral, economical, and managerial perspectives on mHealth and/or ehealth that: (1) assess the infrastructure issues towards supporting mHealth/ eHealth, (2) propose and/or evaluate the design, development, and implementation of mHealth/ehealth applications, (3) assess the impact of mHealth/eHealth applications - including identifying key barriers and facilitators - for patients, health care providers, healthcare organizations, regulators, payers, and society in general, and (4) develop theories to better understand the phenomena of mHealth and eHealth.
