One full-time Professor position in Management Information Systems, with a starting rank of Lecturer, in the University of Ghent Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, will be available via the Tenure Track system with effect from 1th of October 2012. 
This is in the first instance a five-year temporary appointment in a Tenure Track system focusing primarily on research, with a teaching load limited to no more than 60 teaching hours per semester. If the university board positively evaluates the performance of the person involved, a permanent Professor position with a starting rank of Senior Lecturer will be granted, at which point the teaching load may be revised. 
Profile - candidates are expected to:
·          - Hold a PhD degree based on a doctoral dissertation or a diploma recognized as equivalent (as specified in Article 83 of the Decree of 12 July 1991 concerning universities within the Flemish Community). The PhD or equivalent degree should have been obtained after 1th of October 2005, but not later than 1th of October 2010; (minimum 2 years and maximum 7 years of post-doctoral experience at the moment of appointment).
·           - Have carried out excellent research in the academic field of Management Information Systems (MIS), also known as Information Systems (IS), Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Information (Technology) Management. This must be proven by, among other things, recent outstanding publications in national and international peer reviewed journals and/or books.
·           - Possess the necessary didactic, organizational and communication skills for teaching MIS and computer science related courses;
Preference will be given to candidates
·          - with proven research expertise in one or more of the following MIS research domains: conceptual modeling, business ontology, business process management, enterprise architecture, service-oriented computing, service science;
·          - with international research experience, in particular scientific work in research institutions abroad;
·          - with experience in supervising research and/or coaching Ph.D. students;
No prior knowledge of Dutch is necessary at the time of appointment, but candidates will be expected to acquire a profound working knowledge of the language within three years, including the ability to teach courses in Dutch. The official language at the Ghent University is Dutch.
Applications must be sent in duplicate by registered letter to the Rector of the Ghent University, Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat 25, B-9000 Gent, Belgium, using the specific BOF Tenure Track application forms, together with an explanation of the main research assignment of the scientific research proposed by the candidate during the Tenure Track position. This “research plan” should comprise at least three and no more than five pages in English, together with an English summary on one page. Proofs of competency (e.g., copies of the applicant’s diplomas) should also be sent at this stage. The application deadline is 19 March 2012. Postage stamp on or before this date is regarded as evidence of timely submission.
