IFLA International Newspaper Conference 2012
April 11-13, 2012
Bibliotheque nationale de France
Paris France

Bonjour!

The Bibliotheque nationale de France, the IFLA Newspapers Section, and the IFLA PAC Core Activity are pleased to announce the IFLA International Newspaper Conference 2012: "Newspaper Digitization and Preservation: New Prospects. Stakeholders, Practices, Users and Business Models." The conference will be held in the Grand Auditorium at Bibliothèque nationale de France, Quai François Mauriac, 75013 Paris. A complete description and registration details can be found at the conference website (http://www.ifla.org/en/node/5928).

The Conference aims to assess major ongoing mass digitisation projects in Europe and throughout the world, undertaken by libraries, archives, newspaper publishers, and content aggregators. Topics include digitisation projects, digitisation policies, web harvesting of news, legal deposit including e-legal deposit, long-term digital and physical preservation. access and distribution of digital news, and new and old business models. And as frosting for a very interesting conference cake, the BnF has arranged an evening dinner cruise on the River Seine. Besides a stellar lineup of speakers and interesting topics for discussion, the conference gives one a welcome professional excuse to visit Paris, the City of Light.

Best regards,
Christiane Baryla (mailto:christiane.baryla at bnf.fr), IFLA PAC Director
Frederick Zarndt (mailto:frederick at zarndt.net), Chair, IFLA Newspapers Section
Pascal Sanz (mailto:pascal.sanz at bnf.fr), Director, Department of Law, Economics, and Politics, Bibliotheque nationale de France
