The School of Humanities and Informatics is looking for a

Professor of Informatics
Ref No. HS 2012/64-42

Informatics is the study of how information is represented, processed and communicated in artificial and natural systems. It also addresses how IT systems are used and developed to ensure usability for individuals, organizations, or society.

The university’s Informatics Research Centre pursues research on, among other things, artificial intelligence, cognitive/interactive systems, decision support, e-health, information fusion, information systems development, open source, real-time systems, and serious games. Priority consideration will be given to applicants whose research clearly connects to at least two of these research areas.
The position includes research and teaching in the specified area.

The qualification requirements are:

- Proven scientific competency in informatics
- Proven teaching proficiency.


In addition to the qualification requirements, the base of evaluation for this position are:

- The degree of proficiency that is required for the employment (see qualification requirements).
- The degree of scientific independence.
- Experience of research supervision.
- The quality and relevance of the plan for future research.
- Documented experience in successful research supervision.
- Documented experience of participation in university education at all levels.
- The ability to attract external research funding.
- Documented experience as faculty opponent for PhD defenses, member of PhD examination boards, expert evaluator, peer reviewer, etc.
- Documented experience and the ability to be a part of management, strategic work and committee work at department, school and/or university level.
- Documented ability to collaborate across traditional disciplines within and outside the university.
- Ability to co-operate.


For this appointment special emphasis will be placed upon proven scientific competency in informatics, the quality and relevance of the plan for future research, as well as the ability to attract external research funding.
