Faculty Position, Postdoctoral Researcher in Information Systems, for a period of three years

Department of Information Processing Science and the Oulu Advanced Research on Software and Information Systems (OASIS) research group (http://oasis.oulu.fi) at the University of Oulu, Finland, has an opening for one (1) faculty position in the level of Postdoctoral Researcher in Information Systems. 

At the department, there are nine professors in the fields of information systems and software engineering. The IS scholars of the department are well-established in terms of research productivity. Faculty members of the department have published their research in leading information systems and related journals, such as ACM Computing Surveys, Communications of the ACM, European Journal of Information Systems, Information and Software Technology, International Journal of Human Computer Studies, International Journal of Medical Informatics, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Digital Information, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Medical Internet Research, and MIS Quarterly. 

The focus research areas of the OASIS research group are:

•	Persuasive systems design: studying persuasive software features and strategies and their interplay
•	Behavior change support systems: studying the design and long-range effect of health and other critical interventions
•	Social web: studying the creation of innovations for the web or through the web
•	Web science: studying the web as a phenomena

Research approaches used in the group are design science, experimental research, field studies, surveys, case studies, and action research. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods are being used in the research group.

Job Responsibilities and Required Qualifications

The annual salary of the Postdoctoral Researcher is about 42 000 to 57 000 Euros, based on the qualifications of the candidate. The salary is paid for 12 months in a year. Additionally, faculty members are entitled to health care benefits. Teaching load is low, about two courses on information systems per academic year.

The successful candidate should have a PhD degree. Those with ABD status, or Ph.D. students near completion, can also apply.

A good applicant has a proven record of high quality scientific research and publications, preferably in one of the focus areas. The research to be performed by the candidate must fit or complement the focus areas.

The research in the OASIS group has strong commitment to perform cutting edge research that is publishable in top information systems and related journals. Hence, the candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to perform research that is publishable in these journals. In evaluating the applicants, future potential to publish research in premier information systems and related journals is emphasized.
