[AISWorld] Searching for "technology" related Program Learning Goals and Outcomes

Dear Colleagues:

Our College is currently reviewing our Program Learning Goals and Objectives as part of the AACSB accreditation process. I am leading one of our goals: technology. In general, most of the faculty from non-MIS disciplines see that as "the mastery of Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, and maybe SPSS". I do not disagree that knowing how to use and apply those tools is critical and part of the "technology" learning goal but I see it as much more. I want my graduates to be able to understand and leverage technology at a much higher level. They should be able to operate it, but more importantly, they should understand how many different technologies (not simple MS-Office) affect individuals, teams, and the organization as a whole.

Objectives are mostly where we are having the problem. These are observable traits or behaviours that students perform to show that they have attained the knowledge. Preferably things that are measurable; accreditation bodies insist on that "pesky" idea that we need to measure as objectively and directly as possible ;-)

I am wondering if you could share the goals and objectives (and even rubrics and exercises used to measure them) that you have for your own school. As customary, please send your responses directly to me (cferran at govst.edu) and I will later summarize and send them to the list.

Thanks,

CF
