The Department of Information Systems invites job applications for a position as Junior Professor for Information Systems in Particular Quantitative Methods of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (salary bracket W1) starting in winter term 2012/2013. 

The professorship will represent the fields of information systems and quantitative methods of logistics and supply chain management in research and teaching. Quantitative methods are crucial for manufacturing, logistics and supply chain management industries in order to design and operate efficient, effective, and sustainable processes and systems. The design and planning of logistics and supply chain management require quantitative methods as well as information systems and information infrastructures.

The tasks of the professorship are teaching German and English courses for the bachelor and master programs of the Münster School of Business and Economics, supervising bachelor, master, and doctoral theses, establishing a research group and collaborating in departmental and school tasks.

We are looking for young scientists who are about to establish their own research program and are experienced in project-financed research preferably. Prerequisites for the application are a university education in information systems or in a business major with focus on information systems as well as competence in 
. Quantitative models of logistics and supply chain management, 
. Optimization techniques in operations research for logistics and supply chain management, 
. Application of time-discrete simulation for the design and evaluation of supply chains, 
. Design and application of IT systems for the planning of logistic processes

Experiences in working abroad and in international collaboration would be desirable. Furthermore, the qualification profile comprises flexibility, the abilities to work under pressure and independently, personal responsibility, the ability to work in a team, social skills and the willingness to work interdisciplinary. Required are educational aptitude and the competence for academic work which is usually proven by a dissertation's quality.
