LAST CALL: Please follow the instructions below to apply for the AMCIS 2012 Junior Faculty Consortium, by Friday, May 4th.
---------------------------

We are very pleased to invite untenured MIS faculty to participate in the MIS Camp, which will be held at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel (conference facility) on Thursday, August 9th, from 8 am - 3 pm, in conjunction with the 2012 Americas Conference on Information Systems.

At the MIS Camp, we will focus on supporting junior faculty to more effectively navigate the challenges that are found along the journey to becoming tenured, senior faculty. The emphasis is on interaction, sharing of experiences, listening, and fun. The camp counselors will include:

- Keynote Speaker: Detmar Straub, Georgia State University
- Steven Alter, University of San Francisco
- Irma Becerra-Fernandez, Florida International University
- Elena Karahanna, University of Georgia
- Lars Mathiassen, Georgia State University
- Mike Morris, University of Virginia
- Suzanne Pawlowski, Louisiana State University
- Craig Van Slyke, Saint Louis University
- Special guest: Paul Gray, Claremont Graduate University

The theme of the MIS Camp is "Taking Charge of Your Academic Career." The program will consist of a series of interactive activities built around exercises, including:
- An individual exercise for junior faculty to define their career and life goals, their university's expectations, barriers to success, and unexpected challenges.
- Small group discussions with senior faculty members about how to achieve goals and meet expectations, break through barriers, and deal with unexpected challenges.
- Shared stories of experiences relating to research, teaching, and service expectations, as well as how junior faculty can balance goals and expectations with their personal life and find mentorship and guidance along the way.

The primary goal is for each participant to leave the camp with a better understanding of what they can do to make themselves more valuable and marketable to their university and the academy.

Potential campers include AIS members who are pre-tenure. Attendance is limited to 30 people, and priority will be given to junior faculty who are early in their academic career and have not yet attended an MIS Camp. This is an AIS sponsored event and therefore all campers must be registered for the conference. Please note that the camp is being held on the same day that the regular AMCIS program begins, but starts at 8 am, so you should plan to arrive in Seattle, WA with enough time to join the camp bright and early Thursday morning.

In order to participate in the MIS Camp, you will need to: (1) apply by sending the Registration form (http://amcis2012.aisnet.org/index.php/program/mis-camp) and a CV via email to the Camp organizers (Andrew Burton-Jones (andrew.burton-jones at sauder.ubc.ca) and Traci Hess (thess at isenberg.umass.edu), and (2) register for MIS Camp when registering for the AMCIS Conference. Please apply by May 4, 2012.

We look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
