The mission of the College of Hospitality and Technology Leadership (HOTEL)
at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee is to provide quality
education for students in hospitality and technology leadership positions
by creating an intellectual, collaborative, ethical, inclusive environment
for our students, faculty, industry and community to produce educational
opportunities and innovative research that will benefit the constituents in
Florida, the U.S. and the world. The HOTEL College educates students to
succeed at entry-level management and supervisory level positions in the
hospitality and technology industries. The Information Technology (IT)
program is designed to bridge the gap between computer science and
management information systems. The emphasis of the program is on
knowledge-based computer and information technology, traditional computer
science concepts, as well as more practical topics including programming,
applications, and networking, systems administration and the management of
a variety of computing environments (in an era of rapidly changing
technology). IT students will take coursework in computer organization,
human-computer interface, data structures, operating systems, networking,
databases, and software engineering. The Information Technology program
utilize an advisory board members which are composed of leaders from major
technology related corporations and organizations for the review of course
curriculum, school development/programming, and preparing students for
future career challenges.

The position reports to the Dean of College of Hospitality and Technology
Leadership on the USF Sarasota-Manatee. Responsibilities include teaching
and researching broadly in information technology and security areas.
Responsibilities also include engaging in outreach and service activities,
participating in curriculum and program development, and actively serving
on college and university committees. USF Sarasota-Manatee is the primary
campus for this position, although faculty may be required to teach in
other USF System campuses (i.e. St. Petersburg, North Port, Tampa).****

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):****

- Earned doctoral degree from accredited institution of higher education in
Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- ABD's will be considered under the following conditions: Dissertation
defended by August 1, 2012 and must have terminal degree by December 31,
2012
- Evidence of excellence in teaching****

Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience):****

- Specializing in the areas of information security in both teaching and
research
- Information technology industry experience (5 years)
- Teaching Experience (5 years)
- Online course development and teaching experience****
