College of Business
Prairie View A&M University, Texas
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Subject to HR and budgetary approval, the College of Business at
Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas expects to hire two
full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor
in the area of management information systems (MIS) effective fall
2012 semester.
REQUIEMENTS: Candidates with a completed Ph.D. degree in information
system or a closely related area will be preferred but ABDs who are
at an advanced stage of dissertation will also be considered. Areas
of teaching include JAVA programming for one position and Data
Communication and Networking for the other and a combination from the
following: Databases, Strategic IT Management, Management Information
Systems, and Fundamentals of MIS. The College has evening/weekend
graduate and undergraduate programs and the successful candidate
should be willing to teach courses in the evening/weekend.
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. However,
faculty may be granted reduced teaching load (9 hours/semester) in
exchange for research works leading to publications. Usually, tenure
track faculty teaches 3+3 (9 hours/semester).
Besides teaching, the successful candidate is expected to engage in
scholarship, service and student advising. Candidates should have
strong potential for quality research. Publication in refereed
journals is supported and required for tenure and promotion.
Experience with SAP University Alliance or willing ness to work on
the initiative would be preferred.
SALARY: AACSB competitive with peer institutions. Summer grants are
awarded on a competitive basis; opportunity to teach in summer is
also available.
COLLEGE: The College of Business is accredited by AACSB
International. It offers two graduate programs (MBA and MS in
accounting) and a BBA program with five majors and eight minors. It
also plans to launch an executive MBA program from fall 2012
semester. With over 1,200 students and about 40 faculty, the College
offers quality business education to its clientele.
UNIVERSITY: Established in 1876 as a land-grant institution, Prairie
View A&M University is a member of the Texas A&M University System.
It is located on 1,400 acre of prairie land about 20 miles away from
northwest Houston on US 290 going to Austin. For more information on
