Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system will be generally available on October 26, 2012 and it promises to be the biggest software launch in history. Windows 8 apps will have the largest device ecosystem in the world; over a billion PC runs Windows now, and hundreds of millions will upgrade within the first year. This presents an unprecedented opportunity for student entrepreneurs to have real success with a great idea and small development effort. Microsoft has developed complete content for three comprehensive higher education courses for teaching Windows 8 app design and development and made them available on our Faculty Connection curriculum repository. Links to the content follow my signature. Despite the somewhat late notice, Microsoft is contemplating holding free faculty "train-the-trainer" type workshops at AMCIS and ICIS to go over this content and give attendees a jump start in getting Windows 8 app development into your curriculum. Since there is a substantial cost to Microsoft in offering this free workshop, I am soliciting feedback on if you would be willing to attend a four-six hour workshop either before, during or after AMCIS and ICIS. If you are interested please reply directly (little "r") indicated your interest including preferred timing and which conference you would be attending. Of course even if you aren't interested in attending a workshop, feel free to download and use the content. As in most things academic from Microsoft, this curriculum is provided free of charge.

Cheers,
