Position Description


MIAMI UNIVERSITY (OHIO) - Farmer School of Business (FSB) in collaboration with the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies (AIMS) seek candidates for the C. Michael Armstrong Business Chair. An ideal candidate for this endowed, full time tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in a FSB department must perform with excellence as a teacher; produce innovative and fundable scholarship that simultaneously reflects and advances the vision, mission, and national/international reputation of both the FSB and AIMS; and perform service to the institution, academy, and profession which could include development of curricula, internship programs, and business applications using digital media. Established Assistant Professors with a superior record will also be considered.


Qualifications


Required qualifications include a terminal degree and an established record in a field of study represented in the School (Accounting,, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Analytics, Management, and Marketing); demonstrated excellence in scholarship and teaching; expertise in interactive digital media in business contexts; be knowledgeable about and responsive to the different ways technology has changed society; keen interpersonal and communication skills; a documented record of collaborative experiences; and meet the qualifications to be appointed to the rank of Associate Professor.


Preferred Qualifications


The Armstrong Business Chair is a critical linchpin in the FSB's efforts to build interdisciplinary synergy among various technology initiatives. Desirable candidates will be influential, inspirational, and collaborative, inviting faculty and students to think and act differently as teachers, researchers, and citizens. Desirable candidates meet the qualifications for the rank of Professor.  A successful candidate will be a leader within the FSB and an ambassador to other constituencies across the university. AIMS is an innovative degree-granting program driven by emerging interactive technologies and a cohort of collaborative faculty who build integrative/horizontal curriculum and research across campus.

Farmer School of Business

The Farmer School ranks 23rd overall and 8th among public university undergraduate schools of business in the 2012 Business Week rankings. The undergraduate supply chain (#17), entrepreneurship (#20), and accountancy (#17) programs and the graduate accountancy (#25) program have also been recognized in national rankings for their respective fields. Armstrong Interactive Media Studies


AIMS (aims.muohio.edu<http://aims.muohio.edu/>) is an innovative degree-granting program that spans all six of the academic divisions and is driven by emerging interactive technologies and a cohort of collaborative faculty who build "horizontal" curriculum and research across campus, including the Farmer School of Business.

AIMS is transdisciplinary and examines how digital media is disrupting traditional disciplines and was recently ranked by Electronic Gaming Monthly as one of "six programs to watch" along with MIT and has been a top 10% program in Princeton Review. AIMS offers a major, minor, and upcoming graduate certificate and emphasizes hands-on, client-based, interdisciplinary projects.
