*AMCIS 2013 Call For Minitrack Proposals : Research Methods Track*

We invite the submission of minitrack proposals for the Research Methods
track at the 19th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS
2013), which will be held on August 15-17, 2013 in Chicago. AMCIS 2013
brings together academics and industry professionals around the world to
exchange knowledge related to the AMCIS 2013 theme, Hyperconnected
World: Anything Anywhere Anytime.

  *Track co-chairs: *

    * Joerg Evermann, Memorial University of Newfoundland
    * Chris Street, University of Regina
    * Joseph Walls, University of Michigan

Contact the track co-chairs by email at amcis.rm2013 at gmail.com

  *Track Summary:*

The IS field continues to mature and has embraced a wide range of
quantitative and qualitative research methods. However, these methods
continue to evolve both in concept and application. This track focuses
on the processes and procedures by which discovery and creation of new
knowledge pertaining to information systems is conducted. The track is
particularly interested in examples of innovative application of
methodological techniques (e.g. cases using variations that broaden or
improve use of a particular method) as well as discourse and description
of particular methodologial improvements.

Suggested topics/minitracks include, but are not limited to:

    * Are there ways to make more effective the use of multiple methods
      in coordinated research streams?
    * What are the possibilities and constraints associated with
combining multiple research methods in one study?
    * Can problems that have historically been addressed through
particular approaches such as experiments or surveys be
      re-envisioned using other techniques?
    * Are there best, contingent, or recommended approaches to
semiotics, hermeneutics, narrative analysis, causal or concept
mapping, content analysis, and other qualitative methods?
    * Are there best, contingent, or recommended approaches to means
covariance structures (longitudinal or growth models),
hierarchical/multilevel modeling, and nonlinear partial least
      squares or covariance SEM analysis?
    * What can IS research learn from the recently developed methods
used in reference disciplines (e.g. latent growth modeling,
      multi-level analysis, Bayesian econometrics, structural
econometrics) and what can it contribute to these and other
      disciplines?
    * Are there lessons to be learned regarding other methodological
issues, such as data collection (e.g. experiments, surveys,
interviews, aggregating internet-accessible data), the role of
theory, ethical considerations, the use of software tools for data
      analysis, and related strategies?
    * What are the methodological and ethical considerations for the
creation, sharing and reuse of large datasets from data available
      in the public domain?
    * Are there preferred methods for some research streams or problems
and how can methods best be compared?

Minitrack chairs will be responsible for a) promoting their minitrack to
generate manuscript submissions to AMCIS 2013; b) soliciting and
assigning reviewers for manuscripts submitted to the minitrack; and c)
making recommendations to track chairs about each manuscript submitted
to the minitrack. Each of these important dates and activities are
identified on the AMCIS 2013 website.

To submit a minitrack proposal, you must submit a) minitrack chairs
(names, emails, affiliation); b) minitrack title; c) short description
of minitrack for the AMCIS 2013 website (up to 150 words); d) call for
papers for your minitrack. To submit a minitrack proposal, visit:
