Special Issue on Network Security 

International Journal of Interdisciplinary Telecommunications and Networking (IJITN) 


Guest Editors: Michael E. Whitman and Herbert J. Mattord 

INTRODUCTION: 
As global networks expand the interconnection of the world’s technically complex infrastructure, communication and computing systems gain added importance. Network security has gained increased importance as a professional practice. Recent events and attacks point out the weaknesses inherent in unprotected systems and networks and expose the need for heightened security of these systems. 

OBJECTIVE OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE: 
The goal of this special issue is to provide a peer-reviewed venue for researchers working in the area of data communications/network security. 

RECOMMENDED TOPICS: 
Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following: 
Network governance and strategic management 
New and emerging networking applications, products, and services 
Social and societal aspects of data communications and networking 
Standards and standardization issues for data communications and networking 
Data communications and networking educational issues 
Data communications and network modeling and simulation 
Data communications and networking law, regulation, and policy issues 
Data communications and networking economics 
Incident Response and Contingency Planning in data communications and networking 
Auditing and monitoring of data communications and networks 

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: 
Researchers and practitioners are invited to electronically submit on or before February 1, 2013 , a cover letter (email is acceptable) and a completed manuscript (in Word or RTF format) for this special theme issue on Network Security . If you wish for an email confirmation of receipt of your submission, please indicate so in your cover letter. 

Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by March 30, 2013 about the status of their proposals and sent organizational guidelines. Those works selected for publication must submit an electronic copy of the final version, and signed copyright agreements on or before April 13, 2013 . Submitted works will not be returned. Address all specific questions to the editors. Submissions must identify the author, reply address and/or email address for acknowledgment of receipt are to be emailed. You are cordially invited to become part of this new work, by volunteering to serve as a reviewer of submissions. This work is projected to include 20-30 high-quality papers on Network Security topics.
