An opportunity exists to contribute to the development of one of the top Information Systems schools in New Zealand. We seek a Professor of proven leadership ability with a strong publication record and an international reputation in research.

The School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand seeks to appoint a Professor of Information Systems to lead the development of some of the top Information Systems/e-Commerce programmes in New Zealand and to enhance the School's international reputation.

The School of Information Management offers courses in information systems/e-commerce at undergraduate, postgraduate, and post-experience Master's levels. Students may also undertake a Master's or PhD degree by dissertation. Located in downtown Wellington, the School is in close proximity to Parliament, the hub of the central business district, and many government agencies.

This role of Professor of Information Systems is a great opportunity for a person with energy, ideas, and academic credibility to further develop a well established set of teaching programmes, research and scholarship. The appointee must be a leading and active researcher with a proven track-record in high quality research and in attracting and managing research funding. They should be committed to playing a research leadership role in the School by contributing to existing and emerging research themes in Information Systems, and building on and strengthening existing capabilities in the School. The candidate should also have demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, including the mentoring of junior staff, and successful supervision of postgraduate and PhD students. Evidence of excellent teaching quality will be highly valued.

The appointee will also be expected to contribute to the School administration at senior level and assist the Head of School in the management of the relevant programme and staff administration. A capacity to extend the School's interface with relevant academic, professional and practitioner communities both nationally and internationally will be required.

Professorial candidates should have a PhD and substantial and relevant academic experience.
