Visiting Research Associate / Postdoc
School of Interdisciplinary Informatics College of Information Science and Technology University of Nebraska at Omaha

The School of Interdisciplinary Informatics is part of the College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T), an interdisciplinary college focusing on meeting the needs of a vibrant metropolitan area.  The School invites applications for a one-year visiting research associate/postdoc. The start date is immediate.  Candidates must have, or be near completing, an appropriate doctorate in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field of study.  The School is seeking strong candidates with research capability in one or more of the following related areas:  IT innovation, health informatics, bioinformatics, human computer interaction, micro IT business entrepreneurism, serious gaming, mobile software development or other interdisciplinary informatics areas. The candidate will be expected to work with school faculty to enhance the school's research capabilities and output.

In addition to the School, the College has two other units - a Computer Science department and an Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis department. The College of IS&T is responsible for a Bachelor of Science Program in Information Assurance (started in Fall 2007), ABET accredited Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Science and Management Information Systems, and Master of Science degrees in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, and Information Assurance. The College further hosts an innovative college-wide interdisciplinary PhD in Information Technology degree. The college is the home of the Nebraska University Center on Information Assurance (NUCIA; http://nucia.ist.unomaha.edu/), an NSA designated Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAE/IAE), which combines the efforts of commercial, governmental and educational institutions across the United States to increase awareness in the numerous domains of information security. The College of IS&T and the College of Engineering and Technology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are partners in The Peter Kiewit Institute of Information Science, Technology and Engineering. The Institute was founded in 1999 and funded by a $70 million Industry/University/Government initiative which included a new $32.5 million building.
