"Innovation in the Age of the Big Data Revolution"

The National Knowledge Management Conference and the International Conference on Knowledge Management for Space Missions jointly host this year's Knowledge Management Conference, in cooperation with the United States White House's open government initiative, Data.Gov. We are accepting proposals to present at this year's event (June 12 - 14, 2013) at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. The conference theme is "Innovation in the Age of the Big Data Revolution" and will focus on how information technology and business executives can innovate by delivering business value from digital information. http://bschool.pepperdine.edu/events/knowledge-management-conference/

We invite researchers to explore the implications of big data for management strategies and practices, with an emphasis on how it can influence knowledge management practices. The objective is to share research on new business opportunities and management challenges resulting from substantial and growing volumes of structured and unstructured data, generated both internal and external to the enterprise.

Topics

Submissions viewed most favorably will be those that provide interesting frameworks, rich illustrations and examples of practices that can be applied by other executives. Papers addressing topics related to business intelligence, business analytics, data management or big data, could focus on (but are not limited to) the following themes:

* Knowledge management as a strategic tool for the organization

* Innovative business uses of open data and big data

* Governance practices contributing to delivering value through data

* Cultural and behavioral issues raised by big data

* Deriving business value from social media data

* Special challenges associated with non-traditional forms of data

*         Data strategy development

* Implications of mobility for accessing and exploiting big data

* Organizational approaches to developing and sustaining big data skills and capabilities

* Implications for individual and organizational decision-making processes

Target Audience

The target audience includes both practitioners and researchers in the fields of knowledge management, information systems, and information technology, as well as business executives who wish to incorporate such practices into business strategy.

All submissions will go through either an open or a double-blind review process. Authors will be invited to attend the conference and will be entirely responsible for all travel, transportation, and lodging fees. The conference does not pay speaker fees.
