Georgia Southern University invites nominations and applications for the
position of *Assistant/Associate Professor of Information Systems* in the
Department of Information Systems in the College of Business Administration
(COBA).



The Department of Information Systems offers an undergraduate Bachelor of
Business Administration degree program. Information Systems majors may
choose specialties in accounting information systems, business
intelligence, electronic commerce, enterprise resource planning (ERP)
systems, enterprise security, or logistics information systems.
Departmental faculty members also participate in the delivery of the
department’s online graduate ERP certificate as well as COBA’s MBA, Master
of Accounting (traditional and online), WebMBA, and Ph.D. in Logistics and
Supply Chain Management programs. Additional information about the

The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Information Systems,
is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment beginning August 1, 2013, and has a
competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The position requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities as
well as a terminal degree. Faculty are expected to be teacher/scholars with
a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, engage in productive
discipline-related scholarship, be committed to professional service, be
technologically literate and have a commitment to using technology in
teaching and scholarship, and have experience with, or interest in, working
in diverse academic and professional communities. Faculty members are
expected to contribute to the department’s goal of achieving national
distinction and must also be willing to interact with students through
activities such as mentoring and collaborative research. The ability to
contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and
University is also expected.

*Required Qualifications:*

   - Ph.D. or DBA in Information Systems or closely related discipline from
   an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school/college  (*degree must be
   completed by May 1, 2013*);
   - University-level teaching experience and evidence (e.g., student
   evaluations) of above-average teaching ability;
   - Evidence (e.g., statement of research interests, samples of published
   work) of the ability to develop and implement a research agenda;
   - Willingness to teach fully online, web-based courses;
   - AACSB Academically Qualified at time of hire.

For appointment at the associate professor rank, a minimum of 4 years
full-time university-level teaching experience at the rank of assistant
professor is required, along with a strong record of research and service
with publications and presentations in professional venues.

   - ·         *Areas of Specialization*: At least *two* of the following
   areas: enterprise systems, business intelligence/analytics, application
   development/programming, data communications, database systems, systems
   analysis and design, project management.
   - ·         University-level teaching experience in *two* or more of the
   areas listed above;
   - ·         An interest in and ability to teach the department’s more
   technically-focused courses;
   - ·         A record of publication and scholarship commensurate with
   the ability to contribute to the IS minor in the Ph.D. in Logistics and
   Supply Chain management;
   - ·         Experience working with a diverse student body;
   - ·         Experience teaching fully online, web-based courses.
