The University of Georgia
Terry College of Business
Dean

The University of Georgia invites nominations and applications for the Dean of the Terry College of Business. The University of Georgia, a land-grant and sea-grant institution and the first public-chartered university in the country, is the state’s most comprehensive and most diversified institution of higher education. Founded in 1912, the Terry College is the flagship business school in the state of Georgia and is one of 17 schools and colleges at the University. With a presence on three campuses in addition to the main campus in Athens, Georgia, the Terry College enrolls 3,200 students in its undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs and enjoys the success of its 59,000 alumni. Terry’s undergraduate and MBA programs are consistently ranked among the top 20 public business schools by US News & World Report, BusinessWeek, Forbes and The Economist.

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean serves as the chief academic and executive officer of the Terry College of Business. The Dean will be a collaborative, ethical, entrepreneurial leader with a track record of consensus building and an ability to lead a world-class program focused on professional education and research. In concert with the more than 130 Terry faculty and units such as the Selig Center for Economic Growth, s/he will develop programs and relationships with the business communities regionally, nationally, and internationally. The next Dean will assume leadership of a strong, ongoing capital campaign to serve as a catalyst for the school’s continued ascendency under the University’s new president; as such, s/he will raise funds to support faculty, programs, and facilities and to increase significantly the Terry endowment.

The successful candidate will have experience leading in a premier academic setting, with the vision to advance a college of business at a large public research university. S/he will have outstanding collaborative skills; the ability to recruit, retain, and develop excellent and diverse faculty, students and staff; a proven talent for fundraising and strong operational/financial skills commensurate to fulfill the goals and objectives of the school; and the academic credentials or professional experience (Ph.D. or other appropriate terminal degree highly preferred) to be appointed a full professor with tenure at a Carnegie Research University (very high research activity).

All applications will be held in the strictest of confidence. Screening of candidates will begin immediately; for full consideration, candidates should express interest no later than March 25, 2013. Complete application packets should include a formal letter of interest and a CV. E-mail applications and nominations to:
