[AISWorld] Position Announcement: Associate/Assistant Professorship in Philosophy of Science and Technology

The IT University of Copenhagen is looking to strengthen research and teaching in the area of contemporary philosophy of science and technology with special attention to information technologies and their relations to e.g. humans, culture and society. For that reason the IT University of Copenhagen invites applicants for Assistant/Associate Professorship starting end of 2013 or soon thereafter. Applicants will be expected to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment and to play a role in developing this subject area with focus on one or more of the following areas:

  *   Modern philosophy of science and technology
  *   Practice and pragmatic approaches to information technologies
  *   Social construction of science and technology
  *   Actor-network theory
  *   Ethics and technology
  *   (post-) phenomenological approaches to technology
  *   Feminist science and technology studies

Applicants with disciplinary or multidisciplinary backgrounds in fields such as Philosophy of Science and Technology, Historical or History of Ideas approaches to technology and IT, or Science and Technology Studies are welcomed.

The ideal candidate must have a PhD or similar related to the above mentioned areas and should be competent in the following areas:

  *   Publication of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues,
  *   Developing and conducting undergraduate and graduate teaching that is well received by students,
  *   A record of constructively contributing to the goals of the institututions in which he/she has worked through, for example participation in working committees, faculty governance, etc.

In addition the ideal candidate for an Associate Professorship will be:

  *   Expected to attract external research funding,
  *   Be capable of, and prepared to supervise PhD students,
  *   Have the ability to read/speak a Scandinavian language (or the willingness to learn Danish).


General information
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 50 faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance's agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
