Call for Participants - 21st European Conference on Information Systems
- June 5-8, Utrecht, The Netherlands

Theme “Beyond Borders”
We are happy to invite the global IS community, both academics and
practitioners, to the Netherlands and especially to Utrecht. The year
2013 is of special interest, as we will celebrate the 300th anniversary
of the Treaty of Utrecht, signed in 1713. This treaty restored the power
balance in Europe and initiated a relatively peaceful era. The Treaty of
Utrecht also inspired the ECIS 2013 conference theme: “Beyond Borders”.
Within ECIS 2013, “Beyond Borders” promotes having an open mind towards
new ways of doing research and establishing novel partnerships for
conducting research.
The 300th anniversary will be celebrated with many different kinds of
cultural festivities, providing an exciting cultural experience for ECIS
participants, and making a visit to Utrecht compelling. Besides this,
Utrecht has a beautiful historic city with canals and other historic and
scenic attractions making it a stunning venue for an international
conference.

ECIS as annual meeting place
The European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) is providing a
platform for over twenty years now for both researchers and
practitioners. Main purpose of the conference is to be a meeting place
for fellow researchers and practitioners, working in the highly dynamic
field of Information Systems (IS). In line with its tradition, ECIS 2013
features a topical, diverse and exciting set of conference tracks:
• Accounting Information Systems and ERP
• Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management
• Business Process Management
• Cloud Computing and Services in Global Settings
• Data Governance and Data Quality Management
• e-Health
• Enterprise Systems and Change, Competencies and Organizational Learning
• Enterprise Transformation
• Evolution of Public Sector ICT
• Green Information Systems
• Human-Computer Interaction
• ICT and Sustainable Global Development
• Information Technology Project Management

Innovation Dynamics

• Service Engineering and Service Management
• Social Media and Society
• Teaching Cases
• Ubiquitous and Mobile Information Systems

Within these tracks there will be scientific debates on the research
that will be presented, in total there will be over 200 presentations.
But there is more! Research in progress will be presented as posters and
for the first time at ECIS the presenters will present their work in a
poster Slam session. Five panels have been selected on diverse topics,
amongst others a CIO panel and IS history panel, where the panellists
together with the audience go into a debate. Furthermore, junior faculty
can work on their writing skills in the tutorials offered by the Journal
of the AIS and European Journal of Information Systems. Last but not
least there will be interesting keynote presentations and we are proud
that we can announce that one of the speakers is: Rens Buchwaldt, the
CIO of FloraHolland. FloraHolland is the biggest flower and plant
auction in the world and often used as a case in IS textbooks. We hope
that will join us at ECIS 2013 in the scientific debate and the exchange
of new and exciting ideas.
