[AISWorld] In memoriam: Thomas R. Hoffmann

Thomas R. Hoffmann, one of the founders of the Management Information 
Systems program at the University of Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, 
June 13.  Tom received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the 
University of Wisconsin.  He published over 50 articles for professional 
journals and conferences, as well as several textbooks.  Tom served 
chairman of the Management Sciences Department (now Information and 
Decision Sciences) at Minnesota for many years.  He was co-Editor in 
Chief of the Journal of Operations Management and served as a reviewer 
for several journals.  Tom served as Chairman of the Curricula and 
Certification Council of APICS, The Association for Operations 
Management, and co-chaired the APICS Academic-Practitioner Liaison 
Committee, as well as serving as President in 1998.
