Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Information Science

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SCIENCE
UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO

This confirmation path position offers the successful applicant the opportunity to join the staff of the well-established and internationally recognised Department of Information Science, at the University of Otago - New Zealand’s oldest, and one of the most research intensive universities.

·       Applicants must be able to teach in the area of mobile applications and platforms, including mobile application development and the broader area of mobile technology and its application.

·       Applicants must hold a PhD in Information Science or a related field and have a demonstrated ability to publish in peer reviewed outlets, including good quality academic conferences and/or journals.

·       Teaching experience and a capacity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research are central to the position being advertised.

·       An ability to work in a research area that aligns with the department’s existing research strengths would be an advantage.

The University of Otago is located in the city of Dunedin (South Island, Aotearoa/New Zealand). Dunedin offers an outstanding quality of life, temperate climate, and close proximity to Queenstown, the Central Otago Lakes, ski fields and New Zealand’s alpine National Parks.

The preferred starting date for the successful applicant will be January 2014 at the latest, with an earlier start preferred (start date will be open to negotiation).
