Dear colleagues,
I would like to invite you to attend the Professional Development Workshop on Simulation in Information Systems Research in this year’s Academy of Management Annual Meeting.
This workshop will bring together scholars working on or intent on applying simulating modeling, particularly agent-based modeling. It will engage IS scholars in a thoughtful discussion with the aim of developing a community-based shared understanding of the role and value of simulation methods in IS research. The workshop program includes an introduction to simulation models focusing on why simulation methods are useful and appropriate for IS research, two panel discussions on conducting and publishing simulation research from authors’ and editors’ perspectives, and a short tutorial of a simulation toolkit Netlogo.
Ultimately, this workshop offers a valuable opportunity to converge on a framework for researchers, reviewers and editors to evaluate simulation research in terms of rigor, validity, and generalizability of simulation results.
