I'd like to announce this PhD course: Publishing Interpretive Research in
the Information Technology Disciplines

23-25 Oct 2013, Aalborg University Denmark.

The course will outline the knowledge and skills necessary to publish
qualitative research in the interpretive tradition in the IT disciplines
particularly the Information Systems discipline.
It will cover:
· the ontological and epistemological positions behind interpretive
research, and how it differs from positivist and critical research
· outlines of the various research styles associated with interpretivism:
including ethnography, case studies, grounded theory, mixed method
research and the various forms of engaged research
· organising systematic data collection
· content analysis with software tools
· theory generation in the interpretive tradition
· article design and publishing outlets.
The course will be relevant to students working with qualitative data in
the IT disciplines, whether or not they formally consider themselves as
interpretive researchers, since there is considerable overlap of methods
and publishing traditions.
