[AISWorld] Data Sets

Good question!

Actually, last spring semester, we discussed this issue in my research methods course. Based on the students' review of the research related to this issue, the consensus among the group was that shelf life is "contextual" based on the issue more than the data collection method. For example, data collected a few years ago (regardless of method), related to user acceptance of touch screen technology may no longer be relevant while data collected concerning user interface design might remain relevant.

Before you ask, I neither complied nor archived the information collected by my students related to this issue.

Recently, Dr. Dennis Jones posted a query about the use value of Quandl data sets that got me thinking: what is the shelf life for qualitative data sets? Does it vary by 'type'? (e.g. observations vs. interviews).
AS always, I'll post a summary top nthe group.
