Tenure Track Position in Information Systems

College of Business Administration, University of Alabama in Huntsville

 

POSITION: The University of Alabama in Huntsville (www.uah.edu) invites
nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position in
Information Systems, with a specialization in Cyber Security, Information
Assurance and related areas. We seek applicants who will welcome the
challenges and rewards of serving on the faculty of a growing college
located in a dynamic and supportive high technology business community. The
appointment would be at the level of assistant or associate professor from
August 2014 and can start as early as January 2014. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct and publish high quality scholarly research in a
collegial environment in which both intra-and inter-disciplinary
collaboration is valued, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
programs that emphasize both rigor and experiential learning, participate
actively in the profession, and take part in university service and outreach
to the public.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have (or expect to receive by the start of
fall term 2014) a Ph.D. in Information Systems or a related field and a
primary research and teaching interest in the area of Cyber security,
information assurance and related areas. Because much of the information
assurance and security activity in the community involves Department of
Defense contracts, candidates must be able to obtain (or should be in a
position to in a short period of time) and hold a U.S. security clearance.
Strong potential for publishing high quality research is required.
Professional experience and certification will be regarded favorably. 

UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY: The College of Business Administration has
approximately 40 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 35 research and part time
faculty, 1000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students.  It offers four
graduate degrees - an M.B.A emphasizing technology management, a M.S. in
Information Systems, a M.S. in Information Assurance and Security (jointly
with Colleges of Engineering and Science), a Master's of Accounting and
several graduate certificates including one in Information Assurance and
Security. Undergraduate majors include management, marketing, information
systems, accounting, finance and economics.  The IS undergraduate major
offers a concentration in Information Assurance.  The College also offers
and undergraduate degree in Economics and Computational Science.

UA Huntsville is a Carnegie very high research activity institution and is
ranked by the NSF among the top 15 in the nation for federal funding of
research in management and economics.  Barron's rates the University's
admissions as the most competitive in Alabama.  The College of Business
Administration is accredited by AACSB International.  The culture of the
college is collaborative and supportive of excellence in research and
teaching.  The Huntsville metropolitan area is culturally diverse community
with a population of about 400,000 and a high concentration of technical
professionals.  The area is home to more than 50 Fortune 500 companies and
several federal research facilities, including NASA Marshall Space Flight
Center and the Army's Missile Defense Agency, the Army's Material Command,
the Aviation and Missile Command, and the Space and Missile Defense Command.

and email addresses. Preference will be given to applicants who apply by
October 15, 2013, the position will remain open till filled. Applicants who
