Faculty Positions in Information Systems

Description:

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is seeking
qualified applicants for one to three faculty positions at the level of
Assistant Professor (The Finnish title of the position
is “tutkijatohtori”).  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in IS or a closely
related discipline, and a demonstrated capability for research excellence
and high quality teaching.  The selected candidates will be expected to
publish in top IS journals, such as MISQ, ISR, JAIS, JMIS. The teaching
load is attractive: typically two courses per academic year.

About the Department

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is composed of
information systems and computer science. Faculty members of the department
have published their research in leading Information Systems journals, such
as MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the
Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information
Systems, and others. Faculty members hold editorial positions in reputable
IS journals. The department has very strong connections to industry. Data
collection opportunities are outstanding.

The department has recently recruited two new IS professors (Mikko Siponen
and Tuure Tuunanen). Prof. Kalle Lyytinen has a part-time professorship in
the department. With the present and the future recruitments, the
department aims to enhance its reputation as a leading IS institution in
Europe.

About Jyväskylä and the University of Jyväskylä:

Jyväskylä is located in Central Finland in the western part of the Finnish
Lakeland. It is the largest city in central Finland. The hilly terrain in
Jyväskylä is surrounded by hundreds of lakes.

University of Jyväskylä is a research-oriented university. The department
of Computer Science and Information Systems belongs to the Faculty of
Information Technology, which is the largest and oldest in Finland in its
branch. Information systems science has been taught at the University of
Jyväskylä since 1967. The Department of Computer Science and Information

2     Research plan, max. 1 page
3     Teaching portfolio, which outlines (one pdf document of max. 2 pages)
the teaching and supervision experience and pedagogical competence of the
applicant, including the plans for anticipated teaching content and how it
complements the curriculum of the department (courses in English

4      Scientific merits and research, including a statement on any
experience in working in projects and acquisition of external
research funding
5      A numbered list of all the scholarly and other publications
6      Chosen publications; a maximum of 5 main publications numbered in
accordance with the above list (one pdf-file or zip-file).
