BACKGROUND

Beginning in January, 2014 the association plans to centralize the copyediting function of the following four journals: 

     • AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction
     • Communications of the Association for Information Systems
     • Journal of Information Technology Theory and Application (JITTA)
     • Journal of the Association for Information Systems

This move is intended to increase the professionalism of each journal while also streamlining the overall production process.  The association is seeking services from an experienced independent, freelance copy editor or a company which can provide professional copy-editing services.
The copy editor will be responsible for providing the highest quality copy-editing services for AIS Journals.  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Performing copy editing of articles for all AIS publications. This includes editing for grammar, spelling, readability, logic, and other style infelicities. The copy editor is also expected to check references and citations, and to ensure that all articles adhere to the specified style guide.
• Working with publishing platforms (such as bepress, ScholarOne and Manuscriptcentral).
• Maintaining the style guide for AIS journals.
• Collaborating with Editors-in-Chief and AIS journal staff to ensure production quality and consistency.
• Contributing to editorial processes by participating in appropriate committee or taskforce work.
• Performing other duties as necessary to assist in the editorial function of AIS publications.
 

CONTENT OF PROPOSALS

Proposals should be submitted electronically as a PDF or MS Word document. For individual bidders, curricula vitaes/resumes, are to be provided as attachments. Proposals must demonstrate that the bidder can meet all of the “Position requirements” listed above. Proposals must also include:

•  Company profile or overview of copy editing experience, including a portfolio/list of clients (with contact information). By providing this information, the bidder gives AIS permission to contact these clients for references.
•  Contact details and full cost estimate.
