Dear Colleagues,

On December 17, Tuesday, 5:15-6:30pm (between the last session and the social event), in Velodromo N20,
there will be an IS History Forum where all ICIS participants are welcome to join a lively discussion on several topics related to IS History. Light refreshment will be provided.

Forum Organizers:

Dr. Doug Vogel (isdoug at cityu.edu.hk<mailto:isdoug at cityu.edu.hk>), AIS Immediate Past President
Dr. Ping Zhang (pzhang at syr.edu<mailto:pzhang at syr.edu>), AIS Historian

Forum Description:

The IS History forum will focus on three main topics:

1. Awareness of the importance of IS History and existing efforts in the IS History project.

2. Various ways for IS scholars to collaborate on preserving the memories related to the IS field. Such memories form much of the ground rock for IS history.

3. Examples of historical artifacts that are worth collecting and preserving.
Background and More Information:

The history of any academic field plays an important role in shaping the field's present state and giving the field its unique identity. It also provides context and perspectives to understand the potential future of the field. This forum is a continued effort and built on a series of events/activities that are parts of the efforts for collecting, preserving, interpreting, writing, and disseminating historical information in and about the IS field.
